Princess Mononoke is a Japanese animated film created by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 1997. In summary, it is about the journey that young Ashitaka takes in search of a cure after a curse falls on him for murdering a forest god boar, on his journey he meets a dispute between humans who want to exploit natural resources and beings and gods who protect nature, among them San, Princess Mononoke, who leads the pack of wolves that attack the iron village in search of overthrowing their leader Lady Eboshy. It became my favorite movie because it shows a “female character” stripped of stereotypes, because San is vindictive, fierce, untamed and brave, with a fight that defines all her actions: the fight for her natural territory. It also manages to show how humans disrespectfully destroy our habitat out of greed instead of only taking what is necessary and preserving ecosystems.
