PRINCESS MONONOKE

Princess Mononoke is a Japanese animated film created by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 1997. In summary, it is about the journey that young Ashitaka takes in search of a cure after a curse falls on him for murdering a forest god boar, on his journey he meets a dispute between humans who want to exploit natural resources and beings and gods who protect nature, among them San, Princess Mononoke, who leads the pack of wolves that attack the iron village in search of overthrowing their leader Lady Eboshy. It became my favorite movie because it shows a “female character” stripped of stereotypes, because San is vindictive, fierce, untamed and brave, with a fight that defines all her actions: the fight for her natural territory. It also manages to show how humans disrespectfully destroy our habitat out of greed instead of only taking what is necessary and preserving ecosystems.

MY TABLET AND MY SEWING MACHINE

My favorite technological objects are my tablet and my sewing machine, especially since they both allow me to carry out my work.
I have a tablet book with a touch pen to write and draw as if it were on paper, I can also choose different pencil or brush textures according to what I want to do. I really like the tablet because in addition to drawing without spending material it allows me to edit images, read, watch movies, write and surf the Internet in a practical way, since being compact I can take it anywhere.
My sewing machine is a very precious item to me, because I really like to sew, make costumes, and fix clothes. My mom is a seamstress and she taught me how to sew very young in her industrial machine, then when I entered university she decided to give me one of her own, so when I use it I feel that I connect with that part of my root through the job we share 💕

I STUDY SCENIC DESING

When I was a child I dreamed of being a dancer or actress, I was shy but in acts I felt very comfortable and I really liked to move. I also wanted to be a vet to have lots of animals and take care of them. At the time of deciding that studying had Scenic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture and Geography options, I really always wanted to study Scenic Design, the rest of the options were only alternatives in case they didn't accept me at the Universidad de Chile. My experience so far in university has been quite frustrating, I had high expectations in deparment and in myself, but the clash with reality was disappointing. In the future I would like to work as an arts teacher in rural schools, neighborhoods or in projects with prisoners.

ABOUT ME

My name is Carla, I'm 23 years old, I was born in Boca Sur, a neighborhood created in the south of the Fiu-Fiu (Bío-Bío) river by the dictator Pinochet from the eradications carried out in the province of Concepcion in 1983. I emigrated from this place at the 17 years old to study Scenic Design in Santiago but a few months ago I came back. I'm a student and worker of culture and the arts, and I would like to be a teacher. I really like popular art such as street and community theater, muralism and urban dances, especially dancehall. I have three companions cats that I love very much, their names are chhiru, waipe and moko. I believe in defending it from the territories and in the importance of the ñuke mapu for our living. I'm a neighbor xampurria feminist, defender of the ñuke mapu, provider of all life and believer in its power of healing for the harmony between all species inhabitants of the mapu.
